Coaching philosophy

CONNECTION:
I believe great programs center on connection in between coaches, between players, between players and coaches, between players and fans, and on and on. Basketball is an amazing game, but the big picture is life and the lasting impressions and friendships we make.
STRIVING FOR ABSOLUTE BEST:
I believe great programs continuously strive to reach their maximum potential. This must happen intentionally through accountability, collective responsibility, culture, and high expectations from all. Great teams maximize their skill, their time, their communication, their effort, their leadership, and their teachable moments. I believe in the process by which we effort to win every moment, winning moments of connection, of winning basketball roles, winning how our on court body language, all the way to winning the team dinner.
ASSUME NOTHING, TEACH EVERYTHING:
I believe in the idea of "teaching life lessons through the game of basketball and teaching the game of basketball through life lessons". I also believe we all (including coaches) have room for growth and we can learn from anyone, but coaches have a responsibility to take nothing for granted. I believe beyond the "Os and Xs" being intentional about all details is important, for example, teaching time-out procedures and expectations, teaching (and modeling) how we treat other people, teaching basketball decision-making, to teaching proper defensive rotations to name a few.
